History Of Jama Masjid

In Malegaon Camp (Lashkar) there was an influential Tamboli Resident called Khairati. He was very strict in fasting and prayers. He used to come to the bazaar of Malegaon to sell tobacco every Friday. There was no mosque near the bazaar at that time. So in 1271 he bought a plot of land and built a canopy on the sand floor. And so, with the help of this servant of God, ten or twelve people started praying in this small mosque. Which was later called Jama Masjid.

After some months Construction of a solid plaster mosque containing 3 minarets started. which took two and a half years to complete. The Width of this mosque can be gauged from the fact that 9 people could pray in a row. Many years later, at the time of the ruler of the British government named mister Stewar was given a large plot of land around the Jama Masjid. in۱۲۹۸ According to 1880, Mr Abdul Salam Sahib, Fujdar, built the wall in the direction of Azaan Khan and also the foundation of the place of the well hammam and the foundation of west, north and south directions at his own expense. After the death of Abdul Salam Faujdar in In 1300 according to 1882, the famous citizen Haji Qayam Sardar, Wazir Sardar, Bade Hakeem Muhammad Ismail and Buddho Sardar, etc. martyred the building of three mihrabs and started its expansion and construction. Donations were collected from the general public for this new building of the mosque. In1302 after a span of two years, the expansion of the mosque reached its completion in the month of Dhul-Hijjah.

Twelve years after the construction of this mosque building, on Saturday morning 13 safar 1314 according to 1895, the mosam river flooded. The flood was so high that the floodwaters began to flow from the inner roof of the mosque. the crystal lanterns in the mosque were hidden in the mud and sand of a flood. The pool and garden were not located on the west side at that time. One year before the flood, the construction of the north wall of the pool and the western wall towards the garden was completed. The northern wall of the pool collapsed due to the flood. After the flood ended, It was decided to build the collapsed wall and clean the mosque. Due to the flood, the market was full of sand and mud. It was suggested that the walls be made of the same clay and sand. Coincidentally, a British officer had come to Malegaon from Nasik and permission was sought from him. The officer gave permission after investigating the market section. After permission was granted Safar 1314 on Tuesdays Maulana Mohammad Abdullah Sahib and other elders of the city announced in every street and bazaar that business will be closed from morning till evening the next day. At the same time, the announcement urged all Muslims in the city to gather near the Jama mosque in the morning. The next morning people gathered. Then it was decided to fill the gaps and cracks in the broken wall by bringing mud from the bazaar part on the south side of the mosque. Thousands of bamboo baskets were provided. With great enthusiasm, the people started digging the soil and building the wall. From morning till twelve o’clock the work of filling the gap was completed. Later the south wall was raised. And at the same time, the pool began to be built. Plants were planted in the garden.

The two minarets on the side of the main entrance of the mosque were very small and they were converted into three times taller minarets. The pool, the garden and the two minarets were built in 1316 according to 1898.

Issuance of the Madrasa Ta’leem-ul-Quran was implemented by Maulana Muhammad Ishaq in 1339 according to 1920.

The semblance of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah SWT, is as the likeness of a grain of corn, which grows seven ears and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah SWT gives manifold increase to whomever He pleases. Allah SWT is All-Sufficient, All-Knowing.
